Products are the centre of the app: the till sells them, stock counts them, and reports measure them.
The fields that matter
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Name | What staff search for at the till. Be specific — strength and pack size included. |
| SKU or code | Your own reference. Must be unique. |
| Barcode | What a scanner reads. Without it, scanning cannot find the product. |
| Cost price | What you paid. Every profit figure depends on it. |
| Selling price | What you charge. |
| Reorder level | When it should appear on Low Stock. |
| Track stock | Turn off for services, which have no quantity to count. |
Importing in bulk
Download the template from the import window, fill it in, and upload. Import reports each row it could not accept and why, rather than failing the whole file — so you can fix those rows and re-upload just them.
Categories, departments, promotions and variants
Categories group products for reporting and for the till tabs. Departments are a coarser supermarket-style grouping. Promotions handle temporary pricing. Variants cover one product in several sizes or colours. All four are ways of organising products, and all four share one set of access rights with Products.
